Amman, Oct. 15 (Petra) - Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Wednesday directed all ministries and government agencies to step up coordination and ensure full operational readiness ahead of the winter season, citing the need for swift, unified responses to severe weather events.
Chairing a meeting at the government's offices, Hassan reviewed the national preparedness plan and accompanying contingency frameworks drawn up by key ministries and municipalities. He stressed that response units and emergency operations rooms across the governorates must remain on high alert and fully equipped to handle potential disruptions.
Hassan also called for checks on infrastructure integrity, equipment functionality, and manpower deployment, emphasizing the importance of learning from previous winter seasons. He urged authorities to intensify public awareness and safety messaging as part of the country's broader risk mitigation strategy.
The meeting brought together the Ministers of Local Administration, Public Works and Housing, and Interior, along with the Mayor of Amman, who presented updates on their respective agencies' winter-readiness plans.
