Kuwait Assistant FM: Experts Meeting Extends Efforts To Boost Anti-Terrorism Coordination
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
KUWAIT, Oct 15 (KUNA) -- Assistant Foreign Minister for Development and International Cooperation Affairs and Chairman of the Committee for Implementing UN Security Council Resolutions Ambassador Hamad Al-Meshaan affirmed Kuwait's keenness to host the Counter-Terrorism Forum experts' meeting, strengthening global coordination and supporting international counter-terrorism objectives.
In a press statement, Al-Meshaan emphasized that the two-day meeting gathered 49 representatives from 27 countries and organizations under the theme "Enhancing International Judicial Cooperation and Handling Evidence in Terrorism Cases," jointly chaired by Kuwait and Kenya.
He noted that Kuwait previously hosted a Global Counter-Terrorism Forum workshop last October on "Disengagement, Deradicalization, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration," in collaboration with the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, with participation from 90 policymakers and experts.
The ambassador highlighted Kuwait's active role in countering terrorism through bilateral cooperation with friendly nations, especially regarding the issue of foreign terrorist fighters, reflecting Kuwait's humanitarian commitment and dedication to promoting international peace and stability.
He added that Kuwait has facilitated the repatriation of over 1,500 foreign terrorist fighters and their families from northeastern Syria since 2018 and continues to assist partner nations in exchanging expertise and strengthening judicial cooperation globally. (end)
