Google Commits USD15B to AI Hub in India
(MENAFN) In a landmark move, Google announced Tuesday the launch of its first artificial intelligence (AI) hub in India, set to be built in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. The tech giant plans to invest approximately $15 billion between 2026 and 2030, marking its largest financial commitment to India to date.
The AI hub will be located in Visakhapatnam and is designed to deploy Google’s complete AI stack to drive nationwide transformation powered by artificial intelligence.
"The new AI hub will combine powerful AI infrastructure, data center capacity, new large-scale energy sources and an expanded fiber-optic network, all in one place," the company said in a statement. The project is aligned with the Indian government’s Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative, a strategic vision aimed at fostering advanced, AI-led growth.
The upcoming facility will house a dedicated data center campus with gigawatt-scale computing capabilities to meet surging demand for digital services in both India and international markets.
Built in collaboration with major partners AdaniConneX and Airtel, the hub will utilize the same advanced infrastructure that powers global Google platforms such as Search, Workspace, and YouTube.
The company emphasized that the new hub will enable businesses and research institutions to access high-performance, low-latency AI services. These tools will support the development and scaling of AI-driven solutions across sectors and accelerate innovation.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai described the project as a "landmark development" during a conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The company added that the initiative represents a major economic and technological opportunity for both India and the United States, calling it a pivotal step in ushering in a new era of AI capabilities.
