Civilians Flee Central Kurram Amid Ongoing Operations Against Militants
In Central Kurram, residents have begun leaving their homes amid fears of a possible security operation in the region. Locals from areas including Alisherzai, Jabba Mela, and nearby villages are reportedly moving towards safer locations such as Thall, Hangu, Kohat, and other adjoining districts.
According to official sources, on October 8, terrorists attacked a military convoy in the Jabba Mela area of Central Kurram, resulting in the martyrdom of Lieutenant Colonel Raja Junaid, Major Tayyab, and 16 other security personnel.
Following the deadly attack, security forces launched a large-scale operation against the terrorist outfit“Fitna al-Khawarij.” Sources said that so far, around 40 militants have been neutralized in various operations, and the security actions are still underway.
Meanwhile, in light of the prevailing situation, authorities in Lower Kurram have decided to keep the main highway closed on Sunday. The local administration has urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and strictly follow safety instructions.
