Labor Minister Participates In ALO Board Meeting In Cairo

Amman, Oct. 11 (Petra)** – Minister of Labor Khaled Bakkar participated on Saturday in the Board of Directors meetings of the Arab Labor Organization (ALO), held in Cairo, Egypt.
The agenda included the election of the Board's presidency, a report on the conditions of Palestinian workers and people in the occupied Arab territories, and a review of the organization's activities and achievements.
According to a ministry statement, Bakkar reaffirmed Jordan's firm stance on the Palestinian cause, noting that during the meetings, Jordan supported a proposal to file a complaint with the International Labour Organization regarding the extensive destruction and harm inflicted on Palestinian workers due to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
Bakkar, speaking in the presence of representatives from the tripartite parties governments, employers, and workers highlighted the role of the Hashemite custodianship in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Palestine, condemning all Israeli provocations, incursions, and attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque. He also stressed the need for thorough documentation of occupation crimes to serve as evidence in international courts for claiming compensation for damages caused to Palestinian workers.
The ALO Board of Directors, a specialized agency of the Arab League, unanimously elected Egypt as President of the Board for the 103rd term, extending until October 2026. Sheikh Rashid bin Amer Al-Misla?i of Oman was elected from the employers' group, and Nasser Al-Juraid, Chair of the National Committee of Labor Committees in Saudi Arabia, was elected from the workers' group.
