Jordan On Stand-By To Move Large Aid Into Gaza, Says JHCO
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, Oct 11 (Petra) -- Jordan said on Saturday it stood ready, with all national institutions, to step up relief aid to the Gaza Strip after Israel's war of genocide and starvation came to an end, with aid ready to go via the land route from Amman.
The Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), and their partners have, for two years, relentlessly dispatched medical, and food aid to more than two million civilians in Gaza, supporting their steadfastness in the face of Israel's occupation and war.
The aid was delivered through land and air as well as field hospitals, bakeries, and water delivery inside Gaza.
The JHCO's warehouses are filled with all types of aid, awaiting to move to the Gaza Strip, the organization's Secretary-General Hussein Shibli told Petra, adding that the pace of aid deliveries will increase when the hurdles it faced in the past two years are removed.
Warehouses are brimming with aid, with more than 25,000 tons of basic food supplies and large quantities of medical supplies, he said, adding that up to 3,000 trucks stood by to head to Gaza to relieve the population, who suffered from starvation and shortages of supplies.
He pointed out that the organization, under royal directives, has made all preparations, including at the institutional level, to raise the pace of aid deliveries on a regular basis, in full coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces and organizations operating in the Gaza Strip. "It will transport everything it can quickly to reach all cities in the Gaza Strip and urgently distribute food," he pledged.
Shibli expressed hope that all barriers will be lifted for the flow of aid in larger quantities and with less waiting time.
He pointed out that JHCO, the sole entity authorized to collect donations and launch relief operations, is in coordination with international partners and UN organizations to ensure a sustainable humanitarian aid flow and accelerate delivery to meet growing needs in the Strip.
