Turkish Armed Forces Stand Prepared for Gaza Task Force
(MENAFN) Türkiye’s National Defense Ministry announced Friday that the Turkish Armed Forces are prepared to carry out any mission assigned within the framework of the Gaza Task Force.
When asked if Turkish forces would join the Gaza Task Force, Defense Ministry spokesman Zeki Akturk highlighted Türkiye’s history of participation in various international missions aimed at maintaining global peace and security. “Our Armed Forces, which have extensive experience in establishing and maintaining peace, stand ready to undertake any mission assigned to them,” he affirmed, noting the military’s professionalism and impartial stance has earned widespread respect.
Akturk expressed optimism following Türkiye’s mediation efforts that led to a ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the dire need for humanitarian aid delivery and reconstruction after two years of severe crisis. “We hope that the ceasefire will contribute to establishing a just and lasting peace and ultimately serve the two-state solution,” he said.
The statements coincided with the Israeli army’s gradual troop withdrawal from the Gaza Strip on Friday, aiming to complete the pullback within 24 hours in line with US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for the region.
Regional Security and Syria Developments
Addressing questions on Syria, ministry sources described the recent elections there as a positive step toward the country’s unity, security, and regional stability. However, they condemned attacks by the YPG/SDG terror group on Syrian government forces in Manbij and rural Aleppo, which they said violate the March 10, 2025, agreement and continue to threaten peace.
The sources added that Türkiye is closely monitoring contacts between the Syrian government and the terror group, reaffirming its commitment to Syria’s “one state, one army” principle.
