Amman, Oct. 8 (Petra) -- Exports certified by the Amman Chamber of Commerce reached JD 985 million during the first nine months of this year, despite a slight decline in total value compared to the same period last year.
The Chamber's latest figures show a 5.8 percent rise in the number of certificates of origin issued, reflecting continued activity in Jordan's trade sector.
Between January and September, the Chamber issued 31,144 certificates of origin, up from 29,445 a year earlier. However, the total export value decreased by 5.3 percent from JD 1.04 billion recorded during the same period in 2024.
Iraq remained Jordan's largest export market, with goods worth JD 441 million covered by 2,615 certificates. Saudi Arabia followed with JD 82 million, Egypt with JD 70 million, the United Arab Emirates with JD 60 million, and Syria with JD 59 million. Together, these countries accounted for the majority of Jordan's exports in both value and volume.
Exports of foreign-origin goods made up the largest share at JD 503 million, followed by industrial products (JD 175 million), agricultural products (JD 140 million), and Arab-origin goods (JD 85 million).
Certificates of origin play a vital role in global trade by verifying a product's country of origin for customs and tariff purposes. The Amman Chamber of Commerce issues these certificates for a wide range of Jordanian and re-exported goods, in line with national trade regulations.
