Dr Ayman El Hajjar is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the BSc Cyber Security and Forensics at the University of Westminster, where he also leads the Cyber Security Research Group. He received his MSc in Wireless Networks from Queen Mary University of London and his PhD in Cryptography for the Internet of Things from Birkbeck, University of London. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Ethics Committee of the UK Cyber Security Council.

His research focuses on the security of the Internet of Things (IoT) and large-scale smart infrastructures, with particular emphasis on cryptography for ensuring confidentiality, trust and integrity in communication between connected devices. He is also interested in the human factors of cyber security, investigating approaches that reduce reliance on user behaviour while maintaining strong protection. Together with his PhD students, he is exploring new approaches to strengthen trust and resilience in connected systems.
