Saudi Grand Mufti Passes Away
KABUL (Pajhwok): Saudi Arabia's Royal Court has announced the death of Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Shaikh, the kingdom's grand mufti and head of the Council of Senior Scholars.
Reports said Shaikh Abdulaziz died on Tuesday. He also served as chairman of the General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta and the Supreme Council of the Muslim World League.
Funeral prayers will be offered after Asr at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, according to reports.
Born on November 30, 1943, in Makkah, Abdulaziz belonged to the influential Al-Sheikh family, one of Saudi Arabia's most prominent religious lineages.
