Kremlin Denies Denmark's Accusations of Russian Involvement in Drone Incident
(MENAFN) The Kremlin on Tuesday firmly rejected accusations from Denmark suggesting Russia's involvement in a drone disturbance at Copenhagen's Kastrup Airport.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed the allegations as "unfounded," stating that such claims only serve to undermine serious discussions. "Each time unfounded accusations are made, this only causes further claims to be ignored," Peskov told reporters, addressing questions regarding Russia’s potential role in the incident.
He further criticized the Danish government, suggesting that a nation with a "serious, responsible stance" should refrain from repeatedly making baseless accusations. "Perhaps a party that takes a serious, responsible stance shouldn't repeatedly make such unfounded accusations," Peskov remarked. He also pointed out that recent allegations against Russia, particularly regarding border violations, have lacked credible evidence.
The incident, which took place on Monday evening, forced Kastrup Airport to suspend operations for approximately four hours, affecting nearly 20,000 passengers. Flight delays and cancellations continued to disrupt travel on Tuesday.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen condemned the event as "a serious attack" on the nation's critical infrastructure. She noted that while Russia’s involvement couldn’t be definitively proven, it remained a possibility.
