Amman Chamber, Jordanian Ambassador Advance Brazil Trade Forum

Amman, Sept. 21 (Petra) – President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, discussed with Jordan's Ambassador to Brazil, Yazan Masaadeh, ways to strengthen trade and investment ties with Brazil, diversify exchanged goods, and enhance the role of the private sector.
According to a chamber statement on Sunday, the meeting explored organizing a Jordanian–Brazilian economic forum in Brazil, preceded by a series of virtual sectoral meetings starting with tourism, followed by others in areas of mutual interest, to expand cooperation and partnership opportunities.
Tawfiq, joined by the chamber's second vice president Bahjat Hamdan and board member Amjad Suwailmeen, underlined the chamber's interest in boosting economic relations with Brazil across sectors, increasing trade, and encouraging joint ventures, particularly in food security.
He noted that bilateral trade reached JD186 million in the first half of this year, with JD163 million imports and JD22 million exports, mainly potash, fertilizers, and textiles. He stressed the importance of building on the outcomes of the Jordanian–Brazilian Economic Forum held in Amman last June, calling it a unique opportunity to explore investment potential.
The chamber president also highlighted Jordan's position as a strategic hub and gateway for Brazilian companies seeking to engage in regional reconstruction projects, adding that Brazil could benefit from Jordan's free trade agreements by establishing production lines in the Kingdom to access new markets.
Masaadeh reaffirmed the vital role of the private sector as the main driver of Jordan's economic growth, expressing readiness to cooperate with the Amman Chamber of Commerce and other chambers to strengthen ties and facilitate business activity. He pledged to coordinate with the chamber to move forward with the proposed Jordanian–Brazilian Economic Forum in Brazil.
Hamdan and Suwailmeen emphasized the value of trade and services in supporting stronger relations with Brazil through mutual delegations and new partnerships.
They pointed to Jordan's attractive investment opportunities, especially in tourism, and reiterated their commitment to cooperating with the Jordanian embassy in Brazil to ensure the success of the planned sectoral sessions.
