Sybiha On Violation Of Estonia's Airspace:“Time To End Putin's Impunity”


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said this on , Ukrinform reports.

“Today's incursion of three Russian fighter jets into Estonian airspace is another Russian escalation and a direct threat to transatlantic security. Ukraine stands with Estonia in the face of Russia's reckless intimidation. I agree with my Estonian friend Tsahkna that half-measures are no longer enough. Russia must face crushing political and economic pressure,” he wrote.

Sybiha added that until there is a truly strong response, Moscow will only become more arrogant and aggressive.

“It's time to put an end to Putin's sense of impunity,” the minister stressed.

As reported, three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets entered Estonian airspace on Friday morning near the island of Vaindloo.

The Russian aircraft remained in Estonian airspace for about 12 minutes before being intercepted by Italian F-35s.

The jets had no flight plans, their transponders were turned off, and there was no two-way radio communication with Estonian air traffic controllers at the time of the violation.

EU and NATO officials issued statements regarding the incident involving Russian warplanes violating the airspace of Estonia, which is an EU and NATO member state.
