Assistant FM: Combating Human Trafficking Reflects Kuwait's Commitment To Humanitarian Values

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights, Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Al-Duaij Al-Sabah affirmed on Wednesday that combating human trafficking and protecting victims are a priority that reflects Kuwait's commitment to its humanitarian values and international agreements.
This came in a statement by Sheikha Jawaher to KUNA, following a seminar held by the Human Rights Affairs Department at the Foreign Ministry titled "The Role of the National Permanent Committee for Combatting Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling."
The seminar was attended by representatives from relevant national institutions and Kuwaiti diplomatic missions in labor-exporting countries at the Foreign Ministry headquarters.
She stated that the seminar aims to implement previously mentioned goals aligning with the New Kuwait 2035 plan, which include building a diverse sustainable economy, improving justice and governance, and transforming the country into a global financial and commercial hub.
The seminar also discussed the National Strategy for Combating Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling (2025-2028).
The Foreign Ministry confirmed that Kuwaiti diplomacy is the first line of defense in monitoring issues and quickly referring them to the relevant authorities, while the Interior Ministry highlighted the efforts of investigations and pursuit of criminal networks in coordination with relevant bodies to secure the victims.
Sheikha Jawaher confirmed that Kuwait will continue its commitment to enhancing cooperation, developing national capacities, and working jointly with regional and international partners. (end)
