Amman, Sept. 11 (Petra) – The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), under royal directives and in coordination with the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army, sent a food aid convoy to Syria on Thursday.
JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Shibli said the convoy of 14 trucks was accompanied by a Qatari convoy of 27 trucks carrying food and medical supplies, as part of joint efforts to support Syria and ease humanitarian conditions in As-Suwayda Governorate.
He noted that coordination with the Syrian government allowed the aid to enter through the Jaber/Nassib crossing, to be delivered by the Syrian Red Crescent to affected areas in As-Suwayda, including the city, western villages, and shelters for displaced persons in Daraa and Rif Dimashq.
Shibli stressed that the Jordanian-Qatari convoys were an emergency response to urgent needs following recent events in the governorate. He commended the Syrian government's cooperation in ensuring aid delivery and improving humanitarian conditions.
