Washington- US President Donald Trump Friday said that it“looks like we've lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China,” before sarcastically wishing all three countries a“prosperous” future

He also shared a photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping taken at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting in Tianjin, China on his 'Truth Social' handle on X.

The statement marked a U-turn from Trump's previous comments, in which he dismissed the possibility of an anti-US axis forming due to his tariffs and claimed that India had offered the US“zero tariffs” under pressure from increased duties.

The remarks came days after the SCO summit in Tianjin, where President Xi hosted Prime Minister Modi and President Putin. The leaders discussed cooperation in areas such as energy and security, even as all three countries remain at odds with Washington on issues like the war in Ukraine and global trade policy.

Trump's latest post represents his strongest public acknowledgment yet of the closer ties forming between New Delhi, Moscow, and Beijing. For decades, the United States has considered India a strategic counterweight to China's influence, with both Republican and Democratic administrations nurturing the partnership. During his first term, Trump courted India by appearing alongside Modi at the 2019“Howdy Modi” rally in Houston and reviving the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) with Japan and Australia.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) declined to comment on Trump's latest remarks.“I have no comments to offer on this post at this time,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in response to media queries.
