(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, Sep. 2 (Petra) – The Prince Zeid bin Shaker Foundation (Tajalla for Music and Arts) in Jabal Amman hosted the launch of the "Jordanian Arts and Disability Group" on Monday evening.
The event took place under the patronage of HRH Princess Sarvath El Hassan and was attended by HRH Princess Rajwa bint Ali and Minister of Culture Mustafa Rawashdeh. The launch brought together diplomats, media professionals, human rights advocates, creatives, cultural enthusiasts, and disability activists from Jordan and the region, highlighting the role of the arts in empowerment, self-expression, and social inclusion for people with disabilities.
Khaldoun Hijazin, Representative and Chairperson of the group's board, expressed appreciation for HRH Princess Sarvath's presence, stating it "inspires and strengthens our journey, initiated during last year's Arts and Disability Forum." He emphasized that the group represented a step toward expanding cultural participation and creating innovative avenues for artistic expression.
The Jordanian Arts and Disability Group aims to foster an inclusive cultural environment, enabling artists and audiences with disabilities to access and participate actively in the arts. It also seeks to establish sustainable partnerships and provide creative platforms that enhance capabilities and challenge societal stereotypes.
During the ceremony, the "Masarat for Arts and Disability" grants were announced, provided by the British Council in collaboration with the Bunayat Center and the Jordanian Arts and Disability Group. Musical performances were presented in partnership with the Orient Spirit Center, led by Rula Barghouti and Issam Ashmouti, featuring Dalia Sabri, Ghazi Khreis, and a choir of talented people with disabilities.
The event concluded with a tour of artistic exhibits created by individuals with disabilities at the Bunayat Center for Special Education, the Beit al-Salsal (House of Clay) Initiative at the Ruwwad al-Tanmeya Foundation, and the "Creativity Without Borders" program.
