Over 86,000 take part in 'Urdun Jannah' programme
(MENAFN) Since resuming in April 2025, more than 86,000 people have taken part in the “Urdun Jannah” (Our Jordan is Paradise) programme, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The initiative, temporarily halted in December 2024, provides subsidized trips including transportation, accommodation, and guided tours to various Jordanian destinations such as Um Qais, Jerash, Amman, Karak, Al Maghtas, Ajloun, Salt, Petra, and Wadi Rum.
Monthly participation figures show 5,193 visitors in April, 36,991 in May, 13,681 in June, 23,152 in July, and over 7,265 by August 9. To further boost tourism, especially in Petra, the ministry introduced an overnight trip package worth JD1.5 million from the program’s budget.
The program supports local communities, strengthens the tourism sector, and encourages Jordanians to embrace tourism as part of their lifestyle. The Cabinet recently approved covering the cost of trips until December 13, 2025, including waiving archaeological site entry fees and exempting participants with disabilities from fees.
