Seventy-six civilians tragically pass away in bus crash in Afghanistan
(MENAFN) At least 76 people, including several children, lost their lives in western Afghanistan when a passenger bus carrying repatriated migrants from Iran collided with a truck and a motorcycle, according to reports.
Following the collision, the bus caught fire. The crash occurred late Tuesday on the Herat-Islam Qala highway in Herat province, as stated by local media.
Local interim authorities confirmed the death toll of 76 passengers, while three individuals injured in the accident were transported to nearby hospitals.
Ahmadullah Muttaqi, Herat’s interim director for information and culture, said the bus had departed from Iran and was traveling from the Islam Qala border area toward Kabul, the Afghan capital.
