AMMAN, Aug 18 (KUNA) -- Jordanian King Abdullah II strongly rejected on Monday statements by Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the alleged "Greater Israel" vision and unilateral measures in the West Bank, including settlement expansion, which violate international law and Palestinian rights.
The Jordanian Royal Court said in a press statement that King Abdullah emphasized, during his meeting with a US Congress delegation, the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches civilians through all possible channels.
According to the statement, the King reaffirmed Jordan's rejection of Israel's plans to consolidate its occupation of Gaza, expand military control over the territory, and impose measures that further undermine Palestinian self-determination and regional stability.
On Syria, King Abdullah reiterated the importance of supporting Damascus' efforts to preserve its security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, highlighting the critical role of neighboring states in maintaining regional peace and preventing further conflict escalation.
The statement noted that the discussions focused on major developments in the region, the ongoing challenges in the Middle East, and the role of the US in promoting stability, supporting peace initiatives, and encouraging diplomatic solutions to conflicts. (end)
