Mongolia’s Central Bank Reduces Gold Purchases

(MENAFN) Mongolia's central bank acquired 12.7 tons of gold from both legal entities and private individuals during the first ten months of 2025, marking a 10.3 percent decline compared to the previous year.

By October, the average price at which Mongolia purchased gold stood at 466,946 Mongolian tugriks (130.1 U.S. dollars) per gram, the Bank of Mongolia reported in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement emphasized that acquiring gold is among the principal responsibilities of a central bank, helping to "diversify the country's foreign exchange reserves" and "hedge against currency risks."

Furthermore, the regulator noted that Mongolia's foreign currency reserves reached a total of 5.9 billion dollars by the end of September 2025.
