Iran’s Leader Kicks Off Strategic Armenia Visit
(MENAFN) Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian departed Tehran on Monday, embarking on a pivotal two-day visit to Armenia, marking the initial phase of a broader diplomatic mission that will continue to Belarus, his office confirmed.
Accompanied by multiple cabinet officials, Pezeshkian’s official delegation aims to strengthen ties during the visit, according to a statement published on the presidency’s website.
In Yerevan, Pezeshkian is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and to co-chair a high-level meeting between senior officials from both nations, focused on deepening bilateral cooperation. The visit is set to culminate in the signing of several key cooperation agreements. Additionally, he will meet with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, the statement added.
Before leaving Tehran, Pezeshkian underscored that strengthening ties with neighboring and ideologically aligned nations remains a key priority for Iran. He also stated that the memorandums of understanding and agreements expected to be signed during the visit would contribute to building “favourable economic and social grounds” for the country.
