Putin’s envoy states Biden’s policies must be reversed to get worldwide peace
(MENAFN) Kirill Dmitriev, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s economic envoy and a key participant in the Ukraine settlement process, has stated that the policies of former U.S. President Joe Biden must be corrected to foster global peace, according to reports.
Dmitriev, who also serves as CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), commented on a White House post praising Trump as “the President of PEACE,” which highlighted several world leaders supporting a Nobel Peace Prize for him. The Russian official responded: “World needs peace and security. Biden’s mistakes need to be corrected.”
Trump has repeatedly described the Ukraine conflict as “Biden’s war,” emphasizing his intention to end it and claiming it would not have started had he been president in 2022.
Dmitriev has played a significant role in the Ukraine settlement process, welcoming Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff during a recent Moscow visit. Witkoff later held three-hour talks with Putin, which were described by Moscow as “business-like and constructive,” with the U.S. reportedly presenting an “acceptable” offer concerning a potential Ukraine settlement.
Following these discussions, Putin and Trump agreed to a summit in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 15. The U.S. president has characterized the meeting as a “feel-out meeting,” indicating that talks may address a possible land swap between Russia and Ukraine.
However, Dmitriev cautioned on Saturday that certain countries seeking to extend the Ukraine conflict might attempt to undermine the summit through “provocations and disinformation.”
Several Western media outlets have speculated that Trump is pursuing a Nobel Peace Prize. Last month, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that “it’s well past time” for the U.S. president to receive the award, traditionally presented in December.
