Irbid, July 21 (Petra) -- The Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, in partnership with Alrowwad Cultural and Arts Society, will launch its international visual arts symposium, titled "Draw Your Homeland, Jordan," on Thursday at Yarmouk University.
The symposium brings together artists from Jordan and abroad for three days of workshops, cultural tours, and artistic dialogue, with a focus on capturing the beauty and heritage of Jordan through direct, on-site painting. Participating artists hail from Turkey, Poland, Kosovo, Montenegro, Lebanon, Syria, Ireland, Georgia, and Jordan.
According to Khalil Al-Kawafha, director of the symposium and head of Alrowwad Cultural and Arts Society, the event will feature open-air painting sessions, discussion forums focused on contemporary visual arts, and artistic excursions to key tourist and archaeological sites, including the ancient city of Petra.
Over the course of the symposium, participants will engage in workshops centered around the theme "Draw Your Homeland, Jordan," with activities taking place both on the university campus and at several cultural landmarks in Irbid. The program also includes guided visits to museums and natural landscapes designed to inspire artistic interpretation.
The symposium will conclude on Monday, July 28, at the Jerash Festival site with a group exhibition showcasing the participants' works. The closing ceremony will include the distribution of certificates to all participating artists.
Al-Kawafha noted that the initiative reflects the festival's commitment to documenting Jordan's diverse geography and historical richness through creative expression. The symposium, he said, not only supports artistic exchange across cultures but also reinforces Jordan's role as a regional hub for arts and culture.
