Israel kills two Hezbollah militants in new attack on Lebanon

(MENAFN) Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of two Hezbollah militants, according to reports from both Israeli and Lebanese sources, as tensions continue despite a months-old ceasefire agreement.

The Israeli military announced on Saturday that it had eliminated Ahmad Muhammad Salah, the commander of Hezbollah’s Yohmor outpost in southern Lebanon. According to the statement, Salah was actively involved in rebuilding Hezbollah’s military infrastructure in the Yohmor area.

Earlier, Lebanon’s Health Ministry’s Public Health Emergency Operations Center reported that an Israeli drone targeted a motorcycle in the Sharabik neighborhood of Yohmor, located in the Nabatieh district, killing one person.

Also on Saturday, another Hezbollah member, Mohammad Abdullah Al-Hadi of the group’s elite Radwan Forces, was reported killed in an Israeli strike on the town of Al-Khiam in southern Lebanon.

Clashes between Israel and Hezbollah had largely subsided following a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States and France on November 27, 2024. The deal was intended to halt hostilities that broke out in response to the conflict in Gaza. However, recent incidents suggest that the situation remains volatile despite the formal truce.
