Bajaur Jirga Sanctions Intel-Based Raids After Surge In Assassinations

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) Amid a surge of targeted killings and growing violence in Bajaur, a high-level jirga convened at the Peshawar Secretariat, bringing together senior officials from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's government, police, security forces, political leaders, respected elders, and religious scholars.

The meeting came in response to the recent wave of terrorism that has claimed numerous innocent lives, including prominent figures such as Maulana Khan Zeb , Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismail of Nawagai, Tehsildar Abdul Wakeel, and several police and security personnel.

The jirga emphasized unity and cooperation between the public, government, and law enforcement agencies. Participants expressed deep condolences for the martyrs and their families and collectively prayed for their elevation.

Acting Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police assured the jirga that maintaining law and order remains the government's top priority. They reaffirmed a commitment to robust, intelligence-based operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, urging all political parties, elders, and the administration to unite for lasting peace.

A permanent coordination committee comprising government, law enforcement, and community representatives was proposed to meet regularly, oversee security strategies, and keep the public informed.

The jirga also raised demands concerning martyr compensation, action against extortion, and other pressing issues, promising to escalate them to relevant authorities.

The collective resolve is clear: Bajaur will be freed from the grip of militancy, paving the way for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development in the region.
