Moscow Rebukes US Media Report About Putin

(MENAFN) Moscow has rejected a report from a US news outlet claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin encouraged Iran to agree to a nuclear agreement that would eliminate its ability to enrich uranium.

The Russian government denounced the report as a deceptive scheme designed to inflame regional tensions.

In an official statement issued on Sunday, the Russian Foreign Ministry criticized Western media as a “tool” manipulated by the political elite and the “deep state.”

The ministry accused these forces of using any methods available, including provocative actions and spreading “fake news,” to achieve their goals.

Russian authorities specifically targeted the US platform Axios, labeling it a “toilet tank” known for persistently disseminating deliberate misinformation.

They highlighted Axios’ recent article titled “Scoop: Putin urges Iran to take ‘zero enrichment’ nuclear deal with US, sources say” as a prime example.

According to the ministry, the Axios report represents “yet another dirty, politicized campaign” aimed at heightening tensions over Iran’s nuclear program.

Moscow reaffirmed that its stance is for the nuclear issue to be addressed “exclusively by political and diplomatic means.”
