Amman, July 7 (Petra) Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti visited the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB) on Monday.
He was received by Chairman of the Board of Directors Mufreh Tarawneh, Director General of the centre Ayman Batran and department heads and representatives from affiliated companies and senior Armed Forces officers.
Huneiti was briefed on the centre's role in providing innovative, technology-driven solutions that serve national security and peace. The centre aims to enhance competitiveness by developing manufacturing capabilities in collaboration with local human resources.
He called for translating the royal visions and aspirations related to JODDB, which focus on localising and expanding Jordan's defence industries.
He discussed strengthening strategic partnerships with Jordanian universities and research institutes, harnessing the talents of young people to realise these national objectives.
Batran explained that JODDB contributes to supporting the Jordanian Armed Forces by providing advanced military technology and defence solutions to meet their operational and training needs.
He noted that the centre maintains numerous partnerships with Arab and international entities to achieve these goals.
He highlighted ongoing efforts to develop drone countermeasures, especially given the widespread proliferation and use of drones in various operations.
The centre has developed a system to detect radio frequencies emitted by drones, enabling the identification of target type and frequency. It is working on an advanced radar system capable of tracking moving targets continuously in 360 degrees in open areas, as well as portable systems with mobile mechanisms and solutions tailored for buildings and facilities.
Huneiti was briefed on the centre's capabilities in designing and developing defence and technological equipment, as well as its role in equipping soldiers in the field.
He observed demonstrations of the centre's research and development projects, including the electronic shooting range and drone technology.
Expressing admiration for the centre's achievements, he praised the high level of development and modernisation realised by JODDB. Established in 1999 by royal vision as an independent civil-military institution under the Jordanian Armed Forces, JODDB has become the nucleus of Jordan's defense, security and technology industries and a leading regional center for research, design and development.
