Orban Says NATO Leaders Avoid Zelensky
(MENAFN) Multiple NATO nations, including the United States, are intentionally distancing themselves from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky during the alliance’s significant summit in The Hague, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has alleged.
Prior to the event on Wednesday, Orban remarked that Zelensky would be present solely at an informal dinner and “will not participate in the NATO summit in any official form,” interpreting this as “a clear sign that the previous chapter is over.”
This, he suggested, marks a notable shift in approach toward Ukraine.
Orban highlighted the contrast with earlier summits, pointing out that “the Americans, the Turks, the Slovaks, and we have made it clear that we do not want to sit at the same table with Zelensky when it comes to NATO.”
He emphasized that this collective stance signals a sharp departure from past cooperation.
Reiterating his long-standing position, Orban reaffirmed Hungary’s firm resistance to Ukraine becoming a part of either NATO or the European Union.
He has consistently cautioned that admitting Kiev into these alliances would risk pulling Western powers into a direct confrontation with Moscow.
