Terrorists Attack Police Post In Bannu, 2 Officers Martyred, 1 Injured

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) Two police officers were martyred and another injured when terrorists attacked a police checkpoint near the New Vegetable Market in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa late Tuesday night.

According to police sources, the attackers first blew up the main gate of the checkpoint using explosives before storming inside and opening indiscriminate fire on the personnel.

The intense exchange of fire resulted in the deaths of two officers on the spot, while one sustained critical injuries and was shifted to the hospital.

The explosion caused significant damage to the checkpoint, including the destruction of its electric transformer, leading to a power outage in the New Vegetable Market and surrounding areas. Several nearby shops also sustained heavy damage due to the blast.
