Russian army demolishes Ukrainian T-72

(MENAFN) The Russian Ministry of Defense has released a video showing the destruction of a Ukrainian T-72 tank in the Kharkov Region. The tank, identified by Russian aerial reconnaissance systems, was filmed moving down a dirt road. The footage, captured by a First Person View (FPV) kamikaze drone, shows the drone targeting the tank and striking it from the rear.

The tank is seen engulfed in flames after being hit. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the first strike disabled the tank, and a second strike ensured its complete destruction. The T-72, a Soviet-made main battle tank introduced in 1973, has been used by both Russia and Ukraine during the ongoing conflict.

The Russian military frequently publishes videos and photos of successful strikes on Ukrainian military equipment, including those provided by Western countries. Last week, Russia’s Rosgvardiya (National Guard) shared footage of a drone destroying a Swedish-made infantry fighting vehicle in Sumy Region.

These events come as Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a three-day ceasefire starting May 8 to mark the Soviet Union’s victory in World War II. Ukrainian President Zelensky dismissed the offer, calling for a longer 30-day ceasefire instead. Russia has previously accused Ukraine of violating earlier truces brokered by the US. Putin has stated that a comprehensive ceasefire could only occur if Ukraine halts its mobilization and its Western allies stop supplying weapons and ammunition.
