Kuwait, IOM To Boost Anti-Human Trafficking Efforts


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, April 20 (KUNA) -- Interior Ministry Undersecretary Lieu. Gen. Sheikh Salem Nawaf Al-Sabah deliberated on Sunday along with senior UN official, Othman Belbeisi, boosting cooperation relating to anti-human trafficking.
Belbeisi, the International Organization for Migration's (IOM) Regional Director for Middle East and North Africa, is on official visit to the country, relayed a ministry statement.
Undersecretary Al-Sabah underscored the necessity of intensifying international efforts to combat such crime, affirming Kuwait's keenness on boosting cooperation with international bodies to protect human rights.
Belbeisi gave a detailed presentation on the organization's programs and projects made in cooperation with governments.
Kuwait's Interior Ministry and the IOM agreed on a number of workshops and specialized training courses in the field of combating human trafficking, according to the statement. (end)
