Doha: The 39th General Assembly of the Arab Military Sports Federation, the 61st Executive Committee meeting, and the meetings of the Federation's supporting committees (technical, media, and scientific) officially kicked off yesterday in Doha.

The event is held under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs H E Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani.

Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General (Pilot) H E Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai, inaugurated the General Assembly meetings, which will continue until April 13. The opening was attended by Brigadier General Dr. Yousef Dossmal Al Kuwari, President of both the Arab and Qatari Military Sports Federations, with the participation of 19 member countries of the Arab Military Sports Federation.

Also in attendance were Vice President of the Arab Military Sports Federation Major General Staff Mohamed Azazi Al Assal, H E Tarek Abdelsalam, Minister Plenipotentiary and Secretary-General of the Federation and Director of the Military Department at the Arab League, Head of the Military Sports Division at the Arab League Counsellor H E Mohamed Al Amin Al Dah, representatives of member states of the Federation, and several officers from the Qatari Armed Forces.
