Kremlin declares no plans to reveal specifics of Riyadh discussions with US

(MENAFN) The Kremlin has stated that it will not disclose details of the recent high-level discussions between Russian and US officials in Saudi Arabia. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Tuesday that the nearly 12-hour meeting in Riyadh focused on de-escalating the Ukraine conflict but emphasized that its contents would remain confidential.

“These were technical negotiations involving an in-depth examination of various issues, and as such, their details will not be made public,” Peskov said during a press briefing. He added that the results of the discussions have been shared with both governments and are currently under review.

Peskov also noted that there are no plans for a direct conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump following the talks. Additionally, he ruled out the possibility of trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine at this stage, stating that any further engagements with the Trump administration will happen in due course.

In recent days, US officials have also met separately with Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Saudi Arabia. Reports indicate that the discussions may have included the potential revival of the Black Sea Grain Initiative. This UN- and Türkiye-brokered agreement, which ensured safe passage for Ukrainian grain exports, was abandoned by Moscow in July 2023. Russia cited Ukraine’s alleged violations of the deal and the West’s failure to fulfill its promise to ease sanctions on Russian food and fertilizer exports.
