Israeli attacks in Gaza leave dozens dead, thousands injured
(MENAFN) In the latest wave of violence, Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip have claimed over 39 more Palestinian lives, according to the Health Ministry. This grim toll pushes the total death count since October 2023 to a staggering 50,183.
The ministry's statement further revealed that 124 additional injured individuals were rushed to hospitals, bringing the total number of casualties from the Israeli onslaught to a harrowing 113,828.
"Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them," the statement added, underscoring the dire situation on the ground.
This latest escalation comes after the Israeli army launched a surprise aerial campaign on the Gaza Strip on March 18, resulting in 830 fatalities and nearly 1,800 injuries, despite a ceasefire and prisoner swap deal reached in January.
Amidst the mounting violence, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his previous Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and offences committed against Palestinians in Gaza.
Moreover, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the embattled enclave, further intensifying the international scrutiny over the escalating conflict.
