Media reports Musk’s transgender kid abandons US
(MENAFN) Elon Musk’s estranged child, Vivian Jenna Wilson—formerly known as Xavier Musk—has left the United States to live in Japan, E! News reported on Friday.
Wilson, 20, has reportedly relocated to Tokyo to study languages, aiming for a career as a translator. The move marks another step in distancing from Musk, as Wilson has previously stated they no longer wish to be associated with their father "in any way, shape, or form."
Born in 2004, Wilson is one of Musk’s five children from his first marriage to Justine Wilson. After coming out as transgender at 16, Wilson legally changed their name and took their mother’s last name. The estrangement from Musk has been public, with Wilson openly criticizing the billionaire in a recent Teen Vogue interview.
“There is no world in which people should be owning multiple private planes, private islands, private whatever, while other people are sleeping on the street,” Wilson said, explaining how witnessing extreme wealth inequality in Los Angeles influenced the decision to leave the U.S.
Wilson also described Musk as a “pathetic man-child” and stated they have not spoken since 2020.
Musk has previously blamed what he calls the "woke mind virus" for his child’s transition and estrangement. In an interview with psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson last year, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO claimed he had been "tricked" into signing legal documents regarding Wilson’s gender transition before fully understanding the situation.
Recently, Tesla dealerships and vehicles have been targeted in acts of vandalism, which Musk has suggested are linked to trans activists. He has also made controversial claims on X (formerly Twitter), stating that transgender individuals have a “vastly higher” likelihood of violent behavior due to hormone treatments.
The issue of transgender rights remains a politically charged topic in the U.S., with President Donald Trump rolling back pro-trans policies enacted under former President Joe Biden, including ending federal support for gender transition procedures for minors.
