Japan PM Hopes Future-Oriented Ties With China, S. Korea

TOKYO, March 21 (KUNA) -- Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Friday expressed hope that Japan, China and South Korea will build a future-oriented cooperative relationship, which will contribute to the world.
Ishiba made remarks during his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul, Japan's Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
"Both China and South Korea are extremely important neighboring countries of Japan," Ishiba said, according to the ministry. "Although difficult problems sometimes arise because we are neighboring countries, Japan hopes to engage in dialogues including on issues of concern and build a future-oriented cooperative relationship thorough pragmatic diplomacy based on national interests," the premier said.
Ishiba also noted that the three countries have the significant influence and responsibilities for regional peace and prosperity of the region.
"Our efforts to address common challenges and promote future-oriented cooperation will benefit not only peoples of the three countries but also contribute to the world," he stressed. (end)
