The EU stressed in a press release that this "is an important moment and a significant step forward based on dialogue and peaceful dispute resolution," noting that the agreement will contribute to "strengthening the stability of Central Asia."
The EU reiterated it supports regional cooperation and stands ready to support the implementation of the agreement "in line with its strategy for Central Asia and the joint roadmap for deepening ties between the EU and Central Asia."
The agreement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan comes after a long-standing border dispute lasting more than three decades, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of people. (end)
