GCC Supports Palestinian-Egyptian Plan For Recovery In Gaza

MAKKAH, March 7 (KUNA) -- The GCC Ministerial Council reaffirmed support to the plan, suggested by Palestine and Egypt and approved by the Extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo on Tuesday, on recovery and reconstruction in Gaza Strip.
The future of Gaza must be shaped within the framework of a united state of Palestine and the two-state solution, reads the final statement of the 163rd session of the GCC Ministerial Council held in the holy city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday.
The Ministerial Council welcomes the Arab Summit's decision to convene an international conference on recovery and reconstruction of Gaza as early as possible, urging the friendly countries and international donors to take part actively in the conference.
The Council appreciates the lobbying effort by GCC, and other Arab, states for halting the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the delivery of humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave, the statement said.
The Council underscored the importance of the outcomes of the Extraordinary Arab Summit (Palestine Summit), notably the plan to deploy international peace-keeping force in the occupied Palestinian territories under a UN Security Council resolution.
The Council affirmed support to the international efforts aiming to realize the two-state vision for solving the Middle East conflict, appreciating joint efforts of the Kindgom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Norway and the European Union to set a time schedule for ending the Israeli occupation and establishing the independent state of Palestine.
Reiterating support to the brotherly people of Palestine in Gaza Strip and the occupied territories, the Council urges lifting the siege on Gaza and putting and end to the suffering of the Palestinian people.
On Dorra Oil and Gas Field, the Council stressed that the area lies entirely within the territorial waters of Kuwait and that the natural resources in the adjacent divided between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait belong to both neighbors solely.
Regarding the relations with Iran, the Council renewed its firm stance on commitment to the basic principles of the UN Charter and international laws, as well as the principle of neighborliness, respect for sovereignty, and non-interference in the domestic affairs, of other states, and using peaceful means to solve the differences.
The Council commended the agreement on financial arrangements, signed by Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and the Yemeni government, which will help resume Kuwaiti funding for development programs in Yemen.
The Council welcomes the resumption of meetings by the joint Kuwaiti-Iraqi technical and legal committees on delineation of maritime boundaries beyond Mark 162, urging Iraqi to pursue the mission thoroughly.
The Council highlighted the importance of Iraq's respect for the sovereignty and territorial unity of Kuwait, renewing the call for Iraq to abide by the bilateral agreements and the relevant UN resolutions, particularly the UN Security Council Resolution 833 (1993) on the delineation of land and maritime borders.
Recalling the UNSC Resolution 2732 (2024), the Ministerial Council urged the UNSC to continue following up the developments of the humanitarian dossier of the Kuwaiti detainees, and missing persons and property, including the national archive.
The Council underscored respect for Syria's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, stating firm opposition to any foreign interventions in the domestic affairs of the Arab country.
It noted that the GCC states maintain principled stances in support of Lebanon's sovereignty, security and stability and attach great importance to the country's political and economic reforms.
The Council commended the visit to Beirut by Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs - the current President of the GCC Ministerial Council, Abdullah Al-Yahya, and GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi on January 24.
The Council extolled Saudi Arabia for hosting the US-Russian talks on Ukraine crisis on February 18, expressing hope that the diplomatic efforts will help reach a peaceful settlement to the crisis, and promote regional security and stability. (end)
