USNORTHCOM To Deploy Around 3,000 Troops To Borders With Mexico

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, March 2 (KUNA) -- The US Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) announced that it would soon deploy around 3,000 troops to the borders with Mexico to "to enhance border security operations".
USNORTHCOM said in a statement on Sunday, "Approximately 2,400 Soldiers from elements of the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), 4th Infantry Division, from Fort Carson, Colorado will augment units already supporting the FY2025 DHS request for assistance at the border. Specific locations of the deployment will not be disclosed at this time."
It added, "Approximately 500 Soldiers from the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade from Fort Stewart, Georgia will provide a general support aviation battalion to assist in the movement of personnel, equipment, and supplies; and provide aerial medical evacuation capabilities."
"These deployments will bring additional agility and capability to further efforts to stop the flow of illegal migrancy and drugs at the southern border," said General Gregory Guillot, Commander of the USNORTHCOM.
US authorities announced that arrests on the borders with Mexico decreased by 39 percent back in January compared to a month prior, a number that displays the impact of President Donald Trump campaign on illegal immigration. (end)
