Mod Chairs Kuwait Delegation To Arab Ministerial Meeting

TUNIS, Feb 16 (KUNA) -- Minister of Defense (MoD) Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Sabah chaired on Sunday Kuwait's delegation to the 42nd session of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council which kicked off in Tunis under the patronage of President Kais Saied.
Sheikh Abdullah, who is partaking in the meeting on behalf of Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, was handed over Kuwait's presidency of this session, Kuwait's Ministry of Defense said in a news statement.
In an inaugural speech, Sheikh Abdullah affirmed the importance of boosting joint Arab security action to face current challenges, it added.
He stressed the need of intensifying efforts to combat drugs and enhancing coordination among Arab security apparatuses to fight terror, dry up its funding, and prevent the spread of extremist thought, it noted.
According to the statement, the Kuwaiti minister pointed to the significance of keeping pace with technical developments to fight cybercrimes and boost sharing information and expertise to combat organized crime in all its forms mainly money laundering and human trafficking.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasized Kuwait's commitment to backing all efforts aiming to boost security and stability in the region.
He also commended the Council's role in upgrading mechanisms of Arab security collaboration, and sharing information and expertise in combating organized crime, including cross-border crime.
Sheikh Abdullah expressed appreciation to Tunisia for warm reception and good organization of this session.
During opening the session, Secretary General of the Council Mohammad Kuman stressed, in his speech, the importance of joint Arab action to curb security risks. (end)
