Strike On Chornobyl NPP Russia's Response To Nuclear Safety Initiatives Minister Halushchenko
Minister of energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko stated this while speaking on live television, according to Ukrinform.
Halushchenko compared the attack on Chornobyl to the seizure of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in March 2022, when the facility was shelled with heavy weaponry.
"What happened last night is similar in its consequences to that event," Halushchenko stated.
He emphasized that the confinement was built to protect the world from radiation, and Russia's attack on it is a direct response to global nuclear and radiation safety efforts.
"The response must be immediate and extremely tough," the minister added.
Halushchenko also assured that radiation levels remain within normal limits.
