CLE To Organise DILEX 2025 For Leather Trade Promotion

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Feb 7 (KNN) The Delhi International Leather expo (DILEX) 2025, a significant B2B event in India's leather industry, is scheduled to take place on February 20-21 at Yashobhoomi, ICC Dwarka, New Delhi.

Organised by the Council for Leather Exports (CLE), this premier trade show aims to create a platform for manufacturers and exporters to showcase their latest innovations and capabilities to international buyers seeking new sourcing opportunities.

The event arrives amid significant policy reforms designed to boost India's leather and footwear sector. In a recent development, the government has eliminated the Basic Customs Duty on wet blue leather, effective February 2, 2025, while also removing export duty on crust leather.

These changes are part of a comprehensive Special Package that aims to enhance manufacturing and exports, particularly in the footwear sector, with ambitious targets of achieving Rs 4 lakh crore in turnover and Rs 1.1 lakh crore in exports, while creating 22 lakh jobs.

Support for MSMEs has been substantially enhanced through increased investment and turnover classification limits, with credit guarantee coverage for micro and small enterprises doubled to Rs 10 crore.

This move is expected to unlock an additional Rs 1.5 lakh crore in credit over five years. The government is also introducing BharatTradeNet, a unified platform for trade documentation and financing, alongside an Export Promotion Mission with specific sectoral targets.

CLE Chairman Rajendra Kumar Jalan has outlined an ambitious target of USD 47 billion by 2030, with USD 13.7 billion designated for the export sector.

The organisation has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and the Ministry of Commerce & Industry for their support of the leather sector's development.

Joint Secretary Vimal Anand highlighted that the Union Budget 2025 has provided crucial support to the leather and footwear sector through enhanced credit access and rationalised duties.

These initiatives, aligned with the government's 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' campaigns, position India to strengthen its presence as a global manufacturing and sourcing hub in the leather industry.
