Study reveals AI to displace millions of jobs by 2030

(MENAFN) A new report from the World Economic Forum (WEF) warns that the global job market could face massive disruptions as artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more advanced, potentially leading to widespread layoffs. The study, which surveyed large companies globally, revealed that 41% of businesses plan to reduce their workforce by 2030 due to AI advancements. However, 77% of companies are preparing to reskill their staff between 2025 and 2030 to better integrate human-machine collaboration.

The report predicts that while AI will lead to the displacement of 92 million jobs, it will also create 170 million new roles, especially in fields like AI, big data, and cybersecurity. Jobs in areas such as service clerks, executive secretaries, and payroll clerks are expected to see the largest declines. The WEF highlights that AI’s potential to augment human productivity, rather than simply replace workers, will also create new opportunities for specialized roles, particularly in renewable energy and environmental engineering.

The study emphasizes the growing need for human-centered skills like creativity, flexibility, and resilience, as workers will need to adapt to the evolving technological landscape. Experts warn that employees will need to master AI skills to remain competitive in the labor market.
