Rashid Khan Breaks Dwayne Bravo's Record, Becomes T20's Highest Wicket-Taker

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) The website“CrickInfo” recently announced that Rashid Khan, the Afghanistan national cricket team player, has achieved a new record by taking 633 wickets in international T20 matches, making him the highest wicket-taker in T20 history globally.

The site mentioned that Rashid surpassed Dwayne Bravo of the West Indies, who previously held the record with 631 wickets, to become the leader in this category.

According to CrickInfo's page, Rashid, now 26 years old, still has plenty of time ahead, which will allow him to add even more wickets to his record and retain the position for a longer period.

CrickInfo further highlighted that Rashid Khan has been consistently impressive since 2018 in terms of taking wickets, a feat that no other player has achieved more than once.

On Tuesday, February 4, Rashid broke Dwayne Bravo's record during a 20-over match in South Africa, when he dismissed Donet Vilalag to claim his 632nd wicket. Before this, Dwayne Bravo held the record with 631 wickets in T20 matches.

Rashid Khan had achieved nearly 100 wickets in 2018 and 81 wickets in 2022, showcasing his continued excellence.

Rashid Khan expressed his joy in a message about being at the top of the world's best bowlers and added that“whatever we achieve, we do it for our country, and every step forward is for our nation.”

Earlier, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had announced that Rashid Khan had once again climbed a spot in the latest rankings of the world's best teams and players. With 687 points, he has returned to the top spot among the world's best bowlers.

In the ODI cricket category, Rashid now stands ahead of Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi and South Africa's Keshav Maharaj as the best bowler in the world.

Rashid Khan was born in 1998 in Nangarhar Province, located in eastern Afghanistan. He holds the title of the youngest professional cricketer in the world, according to the Guinness World Records. Moreover, the cricket star, with a monthly income of 59 million Afghanis, had previously ranked among the highest-paid athletes globally.

Currently, Rashid Khan is recognized as one of the major stars in the Indian Premier League (IPL), further cementing his place among the sport's elite.
