Iran increases production of heavy machinery
(MENAFN) The production of heavy construction and mining machinery in Iran has increased by more than 15 percent during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20–December 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year. This growth reflects the country's efforts to boost industrial output in the sector, as reported by the Director General of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment at the Ministry of Industry, Mining, and Trade.
In 2022, Iran produced around 3,500 heavy construction and mining machines, a figure that rose to over 4,700 units in 2023. During the first nine months of this year, approximately 3,700 machines have already been manufactured. According to Abouzar Jamshidvand, the ministry has set an ambitious target of producing 5,000 units by the end of the Iranian calendar year in March 2025, a goal that he believes can be achieved with effective planning and execution.
For the first time, Iran has also started exporting heavy machinery this year, recording exports worth $3.0 million so far. Jamshidvand emphasized that the value of exports is steadily rising, marking a significant milestone in the country’s industrial development. Efforts to expand the reach of Iranian machinery in international markets are gaining momentum.
Hepco, one of Iran’s leading heavy machinery manufacturers, has played a key role in this growth. The company’s head, Hossein Ghorbani, reported a 100 percent increase in production compared to the previous year. Hepco is on track to manufacture approximately 1,000 units of construction and mining machinery by the end of this year, doubling its total output from the previous year and contributing to the industry’s overall expansion.
