Trump's proposed tariffs spark concerns, strategies among US businesses

(MENAFN) While businesses around the United States are concerned that President-elect Donald Trump's proposal of additional tariffs will have a significant impact on their bottom lines, at least one industry is preparing for the exact opposite.

With less than a month until Trump returns to the Oval Office, many businesses that carry goods to or from the United States are asking critical questions such as: Should we relocate our production? And if so, where? How much more will it cost? Will this require us to adjust our prices? Will it cost us customers?

These questions come as Trump has threatened to put uniform duties on all US imports, with the biggest levies on items from China, Mexico, and Canada. These three countries are America's largest trading partners.

Then, this week, Trump increased the ante by threatening new tariffs on European Union members unless they buy more US oil and gas. "Otherwise, it's TARIFFS all the way," he wrote on Truth Social, without indicating how high the tariffs would be.
