BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 4. The introduction
of the“consumer-producer” concept will have a significant impact
on the entire energy system of Azerbaijan and requires a
comprehensive approach, the head of the hydrogen and green
technologies department of Azerbaijan renewable Energy Agency Rana
Humbatova said, Trend reports.
She made the remark at a panel discussion on“Revolution in our
understanding of GHG emissions: role of empirical data, AI and
advanced analytics” on the final day of the international
conference at the Climate Action Week in Baku.
According to her, greenhouse gas emissions are still a thorn in
our side when it comes to environmental pollution, and one of the
best bets to tackle this issue is by harnessing the power of solar
energy and leveraging big data.
“There are three main approaches for successful development of
renewable energy sources. First is the integration of solar and
wind technologies. Second, forecasting their production based on
big data. Finally, the management of energy demand and consumption.
Using this data allows not only to accurately estimate future
generation volumes but also to effectively manage electricity
consumption. All of this information is a huge amount of data that
requires careful processing. However, the capabilities of
traditional engineering are no longer sufficient for solving such
tasks. Artificial intelligence comes to the rescue here, which can
cope with such challenges,” Humbatova added.
She drove home the point about the technological maturity of
equipment and the quality of data being the bread and butter of
success.
“Cybersecurity also occupies a key place in the agency's
strategy, especially in the context of training and skill
development. Without developed human capital, it is impossible to
realize any of these projects,” the head of the department
stated.
Humbatova also mentioned the introduction of the concept of so
called "prosumers" (consumer-producers), which can produce up to
1,000 kW of energy and sell the surplus to the grid.
“This will have a significant impact on the entire energy system
of the country and requires an integrated approach. We have
included important elements of renewable energy and air
conditioning development in our program, and there are many
companies involved in this process,” she stressed.
