N-Korea functions as host to Russian army delegation
(MENAFN) On Friday, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un hosted a Russian military delegation in Pyongyang, headed by Deputy Defense Minister Aleksey Krivoruchko, according to the state-run KCNA news agency. The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, focused on enhancing mutual security interests and military collaboration between the two nations.
During the visit, Kim Jong-un conveyed his greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin and expressed steadfast support for Russia's ongoing military operations in Ukraine. The North Korean leader reiterated his country’s unwavering solidarity with Russia, emphasizing the importance of deepening military ties to contribute to regional and global stability and uphold international justice. Kim also referenced the significance of the summit held in Pyongyang in June, which was attended by President Putin.
North Korea has been one of the few countries to back Russia in the wake of the intensified conflict with Ukraine in 2022. Despite accusations from the United States and South Korea that North Korea has been supplying missiles and artillery ammunition to Russia—allegations both Pyongyang and Moscow deny—the Russian Foreign Ministry has labeled these claims as “baseless.”
