Kremlin claims West is enviously monitoring Modi`s trip to Moscow

(MENAFN) The Kremlin has stated that the West is "jealously" monitoring Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Russia, which begins on Monday and marks his first foreign bilateral trip since his reelection for a third consecutive term last month. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, highlighted that the West's close scrutiny indicates the significance of this visit.

Peskov explained that the West's jealousy signifies their keen interest in Modi's trip, underscoring its importance in the current geopolitical context. During this two-day visit, Modi is set to attend a private dinner hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the first day. The following day will include a meeting with the Indian diaspora in Moscow, after which the two leaders will engage in closed-door discussions, followed by negotiations at the delegation level.

The agenda for these talks is extensive and will encompass various facets of bilateral relations, including defense cooperation, investment, education, culture, and fostering people-to-people connections. Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra emphasized the importance New Delhi places on this trip, noting that the last direct meeting between Modi and Putin took place in 2021 during Putin's visit to India.

Ahead of his departure, Modi remarked on the advancements in India-Russia ties over the past decade, highlighting growth in sectors such as energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism, and interpersonal exchanges. This visit not only aims to strengthen these relationships but also comes at a time when global attention is firmly fixed on the evolving dynamics between India, Russia, and the West.
